Reduce distribution loss of electrical energy by decentralized solar power
Today transmission and distribution loss of electrical energy is 30%. What is the point in creating solar power miles away and once again loosing 30%. The advantage of solar power is decentralized power. Every apartment should have their own solar power generating and storage systems. Today coal power is highly subsidized. We fail to recognize, every 1 unit of coal power consumes 2 ltrs water and every unit releases nearly 1 Kg of CO2 to atmosphere. Cost of water and cost of climate change is not built in to today's cost. When we incorporate all these cost, the cost of coal power per unit is more than cost of solar power. Moreover, demand and supply push the cost northward.
All political parties afraid to touch electricity cost because it may leads to loosing of government. The only way is to generate power using other sources such as solar and nuclear. For solar to be successful, the producer should consume. Hence, the concept of prosumer is going to emerge soon. The excess will be sold to power company. Hence, finally rooftop generation for own use will prevail and will be successful model. Rooftop solar generating and storage system will not cost much compared to selling price of apartment in cities (highly inflated price).
There is quite a possibility of all the households going in for roof top installation. The reason being the SOLAR POLICY announced by TAMILNADU. It states that any household, installing the roof top solar gen system would be given 50 paise per unit as measured by the net meter at the individual house like the utility meter. It is a generation based incentive. It is expected that there is going to be an extremely good response by the masses since it has a double whammy of savings plus earnings.
